Before I get into the question in the title, are you ready to grow your Instagram following. I want to talk about how you do that.
One of the most common questions I get is, why am I not getting a lot of followers on Instagram?
There are many reasons why you might not be getting followers but what I want to talk about, is how you can get the right followers…the right way!
What do I mean by the right way?
Well as I’m sure you’re aware, there are a lot of “bot’s” out there and if you know me well, you know I can’t stand bots. You’ll often see me replying to comments on Instagram and being just a little sarcastic. There is a good reason for that, and we’ll talk about that later. A lot of people are under the assumption that the more followers you have the better so they will pay to get them. Let me ask you this, if you pay for followers, how many of them are leads or customers? Do they all engage with your posts or stories?
Now let’s talk about growing your following. Think about your Instagram as a sign that’s hanging on a wall in a room. Now, if no one is around that sign talking about it people will just walk by and not notice it.
Now, if you are talking to someone about that sign and you’re right in front of it, people walking by will be more curious about it and take notice.
The same thing goes for Instagram. The more engagement you get, the more people it will reach and the more followers you will get. The thing is, you will want the right people to see it and you’ll want people in your target market to follow you. So how will you do that?
Gary Vee calls it the $1.80 strategy. This is where you will put your 2 cents on 9 trending Instagram posts for 10 different hashtags that are in your target market. This is best to do just before you post so that way, you’re target market will see what you have just posted and be more likely to engage with it.
There are many ways to find trending hashtags including the search feature in the app itself. Though you can search in the app, it takes a little effort to find what’s trending but if you use a third-party app like Social Info, it makes things much easier.
