Work Smarter, not Harder!

I titled this blog “Work Smarter, not Harder” because it’s a saying that an old boss once told me and it’s always stuck with me.

When I was with the Beer Store an old manager, one of my favorite managers, pushed me to be far better than I thought I could be. There were times I hated it and we didn’t see eye to eye but he pushed me to be the best I could be.

One of the best lessons he taught me was to always work smarter and not harder. I had never heard that saying before and to be honest, at that time I didn’t understand it but once I did it was a game changer in how I planned and got my work done.

As for the Beer Store, I was able to see what was coming in on a certain truck the following week or even the following day and make sure I planned properly so when it was time for the truck to come in, we wouldn’t have to do double the work to get ready for it.

As it applies to social media management and what I do here for myself and my clients, the one tool that has become a game changer is Loomly.

Loomly is a scheduler that allows me to take all the content I have created and be able to schedule that content out for the following week, multiple weeks or even schedule out for the following month.

There are a lot of schedulers out there, some are even free like Facebook’s Creator Studio and Tweet Deck but with the free services come limitations.

The more I searched, the more recommendations I got for a platform to help me schedule out my content. I kept going back to Loomly and in my opinion there is no better platform out there as it has the ability to schedule stories as well.

Why should you schedule out your content instead of just posting when you have a good idea or see something you want to post?

Social media and marketing is actually very simple when you break it down. It’s all about building relationships. With your social media platforms and creating content for those platforms, in order to build relationships you need to be consistent.

The more consistent you are the better and easier it is to grow and keep building relationships as your audience will expect to see something from you daily or whenever it is you post.

Now comes the fun part and being able to work smarter and not harder. We all have busy lives and coming up with content isn’t always easy, making sure you remember when to post and just remember to post period, can be challenging at times. 

That’s why we always recommend creating your content ahead of time and schedule it out. One of the best ways to do this is using a content calendar that lays everything out and helps you see what platforms you’re posting to and what times you will post that content.

Having that tool will make your life a lot easier and when it comes to scheduling out your content, save you a ton of time. Once you schedule your content out be sure not to forget about it.

Having great content is only half of it and making sure you stay engaged with your audience is the key when it comes to building relationships.
