Social Media can be time consuming and if you’re not careful, it can take over your life. Personally, between my own social media accounts and my clients accounts, I will admit that I was spending a lot of time on social.
Last week I was not feeling the greatest and was either in bed or on the couch most the week. I went from being on social all the time to hardly on any platform at all last week and I must admit, it felt great.
We often get so caught up in our news feeds that we forget what is happening around us. You see it all the time, you go to a restaurant, a coffee shop or anywhere out in public and you see everyone looking down at their phones.
One thing that I have really focused on in the last few months is, when at a meeting I turn my ringer off and turn on a setting that keeps my screen off when a notification comes in. This way I am more focused on the person I’m meeting with and not distracted by a sound, the screen turning on or the LED notification.
Having a week mostly off social media really made me think about how much time I spend on all my personal accounts and moving forward I will try to spend more time with friends and family. How about you?
How much time do you spend on social? Do you take breaks from your social media accounts?
Head to our Facebook page and let’s have a conversation there!
As we head to our BlackBerry Meetup and Networking event tonight, I will have my phone out showing off the KEYone and KEY2. What I do ask is will you hold me accountable for being on social while networking?
See you tonight!
